Description Côtes de Provence Cru Classé Rouge "L'Excellence"

Estate

Château Saint-Maur is located in the Var region, at the heart of the Côtes de Provence appellation. Classified as a Cru Classé, it ranks among the top wine properties of the region. The estate blends tradition and modern technology with a commitment to sustainable viticulture. It takes its name from an 11th-century chapel on the property. The winery is equipped with cutting-edge facilities and recognized savoir-faire.

Vineyard

The vineyard extends over sunlit hillsides with views of the Mediterranean Sea. The soil is composed of schist, limestone and clay, ideal for producing structured red wines. The Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers ensures optimal grape ripening. Eco-conscious practices are implemented across the vineyards. Harvesting is primarily done manually.

Wine

The 2021 Côtes de Provence red from Château Saint-Maur is an AOC wine that reflects Provence elegance. This cuvée features a well-balanced structure, Mediterranean aromas and generous mouthfeel. It is a faithful expression of the estate’s terroir. Perfect for food pairing, especially red meats and sauced dishes. Not rated by Robert Parker or Revue du Vin de France.

Vintage

The 2021 vintage was marked by a cool spring and a hot summer in Provence. These conditions resulted in good aromatic concentration in the grapes. The wines reveal freshness and clarity. 2021 reds are balanced with vibrant character. They also offer good aging potential.

Vinification & Aging

Grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness and carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Extended maceration boosts tannin and color extraction. The wine is aged in tanks and barrels to bring complexity. A light filtration is done before bottling.

Tasting

Serve between 16-18°C, after decanting for about 30 minutes.
