Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux 2021
An Australian winemaker embraced by Burgundy
Originally from Melbourne, Jane Eyre has quickly become one of the most distinctive and talented voices among the new generation of Burgundy winemakers. After a first career as a hairdresser, she trained with prestigious estates such as Domaine de l’Arlot and Comtes Lafon. Since launching her own label in 2011, she has been crafting her own cuvées with an intuitive and sensitive touch.
A modern, delicate and unadorned style
Jane Eyre’s wines are defined by finesse, aromatic precision, and silky texture. Her winemaking is gentle: minimal extraction, wild yeasts, and aging in barrels with very limited new oak. The result is airy, pure wines that reflect the vintage and the terroir without any technical overcompensation.
Respectful work across selected parcels
Jane Eyre doesn’t own vineyards but works closely with trusted growers on carefully chosen plots, mainly in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. She produces village-level wines like Savigny-lès-Beaune, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Volnay, as well as expressive premier crus. Each parcel is vinified separately, with a strong focus on site-specific identity.
An instinctive and human approach to winemaking
Jane’s success lies as much in her winemaking talent as in her deeply human connection to wine. She listens to the vineyard, the grapes, the vintage, and intervenes with sensitivity. Her style stands out for its clarity and sincerity, offering wines where lightness means grace, not weakness.
A rising star to watch
Awarded “Négociant of the Year” in 2021 by La Revue du Vin de France, Jane Eyre continues to impress with each vintage. Her limited-production wines are now highly sought after across the globe, making her one of Burgundy’s most exciting contemporary voices.
