    Description Whisky Pale Single Single Malt

    Estate

    Michel Couvreur is an independent house based in Burgundy, specializing in aging Scottish whisky in French wine barrels. The estate selects whiskies distilled in Scotland and matures them in its Burgundy cellars. Couvreur is renowned for aging in old wine and sherry casks. The natural cellar humidity provides ideal aging conditions. Tradition and authenticity are core values of the house.

    Vineyard

    Although not a vineyard in the traditional sense, Michel Couvreur’s aging cellars are located in Burgundy’s limestone caves. The humid conditions are optimal for long-term maturation. The whiskies are influenced by former wine casks, such as Pedro Ximénez or Oloroso sherry. The goal is to blend Scottish traditions with Burgundian character. The winery-like techniques enhance the terroir’s impact on the whisky.

    Michel Couvreur whiskies are known for their unique character and aromatic complexity. Non-chill filtered, they retain a rich, oily texture. As non-vintage expressions, they are blends of various aged whiskies. Each cuvée offers a distinctive style shaped by cask aging. The result is a fine balance between richness, finesse, and depth.

    This whisky is non-vintage (NV), made from a selection of different distillate batches. This approach ensures consistency in style and quality over time. It showcases the mastery of the cellar team. Each release aims to maintain a recognizable aromatic profile. The blend reflects the expertise of the house.

    Vinification & Aging

    Distilled in Scotland, the whisky is matured in Burgundy cellars. It ages in oak barrels previously used for sherry wines, imparting oxidative and spicy nuances. Aging lasts several years in naturally humid caves. No chill filtration or colorant is used. Final blending is performed manually.

    Serving

    Best enjoyed at room temperature between 18°C and 20°C, served in a tulip glass.

    Aging

    Can be stored upright for several years away from light. Once opened, consume within 2 years.
