A Family Estate in the Heart of Burgundy

Domaine des Rouges-Queues was founded in 1998 by Isabelle and Jean-Yves Vantey in the small village of Sampigny-lès-Maranges, located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune. Initially comprising one hectare of vines in the Maranges appellation, the estate has gradually expanded to now cover 5.6 hectares across ten appellations, including parcels in Santenay and the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune.

Biodynamic Viticulture Respectful of the Environment

Committed to sustainable viticulture, Isabelle and Jean-Yves have practiced organic and biodynamic farming since the estate's inception. Soil work involves spring plowing, followed by manual hoeing during the growing season to control weeds. Premier Cru and white wine parcels are plowed by horse to preserve soil structure and prevent compaction. Harvesting is done manually by a loyal team of friends and pickers who return each year.

Natural Winemaking for Authentic Wines

In the cellar, Domaine des Rouges-Queues adopts a minimalist approach to fully express the terroir and fruit. Grapes are partially destemmed, depending on the harvest's health, and fermentations are conducted with indigenous yeasts. Red wine macerations typically last between 12 and 14 days, followed by aging in French oak barrels for about 12 months. Sulfur use is minimized to preserve the wines' natural purity and complexity.

A Range of Wines Reflecting Terroir Diversity

The estate offers a variety of cuvées highlighting the uniqueness of each parcel. Red wines include appellations such as Maranges "En Buliet," Santenay "Les Saunières," and Maranges Premier Cru "La Fussière." White wines feature Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Blanc and Santenay Blanc "Saint Jean de Narosse." Each wine is carefully crafted to faithfully reflect the distinctive character of its original terroir.

Growing Recognition Among Wine Enthusiasts

Through their commitment to respectful viticultural practices and precise winemaking, the wines of Domaine des Rouges-Queues have gained notoriety both in France and abroad. Wine enthusiasts particularly appreciate the purity, balance, and authentic terroir expression found in each bottle, making the estate a must-know for lovers of Burgundy wines.

Located in the picturesque Maranges appellation, Domaine des Rouges-Queues invites visitors to explore its unique winemaking philosophy through tastings and vineyard visits. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or simply curious to discover biodynamic Burgundy wines, each bottle from the estate offers a true expression of its terroir, blending tradition and modernity for an unforgettable tasting experience.
