JmSélèque Soliste Meunier "Les Gouttes" 2019
A Family History Since the 1960s
JM Sélèque estate traces its origins to the 1960s when Henri Sélèque planted his first vines in the renowned terroirs of Moussy and Pierry. In 1969, he began bottling his own wines. His son, Richard, an oenologist by training, modernized the estate and expanded the family vineyard. Since 2008, Jean-Marc Sélèque, representing the third generation, has adopted a viticultural approach that respects natural balances, aiming to express the authenticity of the terroirs.
A Diverse Vineyard on the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay
The estate covers approximately 9 hectares, divided into 45 plots across 7 villages, mainly on the southern slopes of Épernay. The grape varieties cultivated are Chardonnay (60%), Meunier (30%), and Pinot Noir (10%). This geographical and varietal diversity allows for the creation of champagnes that reflect the richness and complexity of Champagne's terroirs.
A Viticultural Approach Respectful of the Terroir
Jean-Marc Sélèque believes that a great champagne is above all a wine of terroir. He focuses on preserving soil life, controlling yields, and seeking the natural balance of the grapes. Vinification is gentle and unadulterated, with long aging periods, aiming for harmony and pure expression of the terroir.
Signature Cuvées
Among the estate's flagship champagnes:
- Solessence Extra Brut: a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 40% Meunier.
